Romance in the North
Alaska Chapter of Romance Writers of America
YAY FOR MAY! SPRING HAS SPRUNG!
Welcome to the Web site of the Alaska Chapter of Romance Writers of America!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED AKRWA's "BREAK-UP CONTEST" Click on the "Contests" button! Judging is taking place - Results will be posted mid-June.
As a non-profit chapter of RWA, the AKRWA focuses on developing and encouraging writing among our members, both published and unpublished. Through monthly meetings and critique groups, mentorships, retreats, conferences, seminars, book signings, mediCa relations, and contests we support all stages of a writer's career. We host one contest each year and encourage all members to participate in planning and/or judging.
As a small chapter, we encourage all writers and work with other organizations in our area. Alaska is a perfect setting in which to write. With long winter nights, long summer days, and beautiful scenery, there is inspiration waiting around every corner.
We invite you to visit our monthly chapter meetings -- they are open to the public and you may visit up to three times without committing to membership. Please note that critique meetings are not open to non-members. See below for the next chapter meeting place and time. If you'd like a membership application you can download it here: Download Membership Application You must be a member of the national Romance Writers of America in order to join AKRWA. Please see link on the side of this page for more information on the national organization.
