Romance in the North
Winter storms, northern lights, time to write.

Welcome to the Web site of the Alaska Chapter of Romance Writers of America!

As a non-profit chapter of RWA, the AKRWA focuses on developing and encouraging writing among our members, both published and unpublished. Through monthly meetings and critique groups, mentorships, retreats, conferences, seminars, book signings, media relations, and contests, we support all stages of a writer's career. We host one contest each year, and encourage all members to participate in planning and/or judging.

Alaska is a perfect setting in which to write. With long winter nights, long summer days, and beautiful scenery, inspiration waits around every corner.

We invite you to visit our monthly chapter meetings -- they are open to the public and you may visit up to three times without committing to membership. Please note that critique meetings are not open to non-members. See below for the next chapter meeting place and time. If you'd like a membership application you can download it above (in the File Downloads area).

You must be a member of the national Romance Writers of America in order to join AKRWA. Please see link on the side of this page for more information on the national organization.

Regular Chapter Membership/Business meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month, from 6:00 p.m., to 8:00 p.m. Non-members should feel free to join us and see what we're about. You may attend up to three chapter meetings before deciding whether to join. Membership requirements include joining the national RWA organization. QUOTES of the Month:

"Close the door. Write with no one looking over your shoulder. Don't try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It's the one and only thing you have to offer." -- Barbara Kingsolver

"Love. Fall in love and stay in love. Write only what you love, and love what you write. The word is love. You have to get up in the morning and write something you love, something to live for." — Ray Bradbury
