Spring in Alaska is a cause for celebration.  But before we feel the luxury of rare warm weather or see the beauty of spring and summer, our frozen landscape has to go through what Alaskans call "Break-up."

When the sun finally starts to work on the ice in rivers, creeks and snow-covered mountains -- we have break-up.  It is a long, often arduous, but ultimately beautiful process.  It's much like the relationship in a great romance novel.


So in the spirit of glorious Alaskan spring, which every year feels like it's an impossibiliy, AKRWA proudly presents its BREAK-UP Contest.

We're looking for your best break-up OR make-up scene: Up to ten pages of your manuscript's most passionate argument, break-up or black moment - the moment that rocks your characters' world and leaves your readers heartbroken.  Or choose that wonderful scene when all is forgiven, your characters are in each others' arms again and the HEA we read for is just around the corner!
